Matt Andersen
Matt's the man !!!
Matt Andersen is without hesitation amongst the top favourites in the growing battery of top class performers that have come to Broseley's Birchmeadow in the past 3 or 4 years. After his last visit, Kerri wrote - "without wishing to sound like someone from Private Eye's 'Pseud's Corner', watching Matt Andersen play feels like a real honour.
The Canadian bluesman has more than stage presence, more than talent, more than well-written songs - he's the real deal; he's a musician who already feels like a legend.
What makes seeing him play such a breathtaking experience?
He fills the stage and the air with something extraordinary - he seems to be the music, to live the stories told by his songs. His self-effacing personality belies the depth of emotion he transmits with the words he sings - they have a passion that seems real, unlike so many of his contemporaries.
It's not hard to see why he's won so many awards - what is hard to believe is that he's visited Broseley and that we've had the pleasure of seeing him live. If he comes again (he will), don't miss the chance of seeing him. Because it's like missing Elvis, Hank Williams and BB King all rolled into one."

Niall Teague & the Fast Company
Back again - great !!!
Niall Teague and the Fast Company are a set of friendly faces, versatile musicians, entertaining performers - an outstandingly talented example of the Irish music scene. They have put their own stamp on the traditional and folk world, which they've shared generously in their tours - and Broseley has been included.Their music has been much praised from both sides of the Irish Sea and much further afield. When they were here last year at Broseley's Birchmeadow, they were unanimously regarded as great. Their album has been hailed as a "simply sensational release ~ it's folk it's country it's Irish, it's bluegrass, it's great" ~ so said Phil Brown on BBC Radio Lancashire.
You can listen to them on YouTube (click the photo), or by visiting MySpace.

Soul & motown disco
Rob's a key man in the SoulIntent events, which take place in a Marquee on the pitch at AFC Telford United - they attract big crowds.
Expect an immensely enjoyable evening
with Rob Corbett, Don Allen, and Keith Thomson.
For those that don't know (there may be some), soul went into orbit in the 1960s and dominated the black music charts throughout the next fifteen years and more. It also lent itself to a whole new generation of immensely popular white artists like the Stones & Yardbirds who used the genre’s bluesy aspect to great effect.Entry by ticket only.

Bushbury Mountain Daredevils AND Sunjay Brayne
Two for the price of one !!
The Bushbury Mountain Daredevils are back - well, it's their first time here of course! Actually, they were never really away … just resting. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the formation of the band, originally from Bushbury, near Wolverhampton. They started life as street performers in the UK and Europe. Following the success of their first album, "Bushbury Mountain" in 1994, the band went on to perform at all major festivals, building a huge fan base in the process. The 2013 line-up captures the folk and country essence of the early Bushbury's sound and features original members Eddy Morton (vocals, mandolin, harmonica, guitar and accordion), Eric Barlow (vocals and guitar) and Paul Hodson (vocals, ukulele bass and foot drum).

Sunjay Brayne was here as support to Brooks Williams in March 2013, and was enormously well received. No wonder - he's a young man very much on the way up - he won the Wath Festival Young Performers Award in 2012, and also was a Radio2 Young Folk Award Nominee and New Roots Competition Finalist. Sunjay’s accolades are formidable for somebody still not at the grand old age of twenty!! Reminiscent of Ralph McTell, John Martyn & Jackson C. Frank, Sunjay is perhaps the last of the ‘1960’s’ guitar players.Bridgnorth Music Festival

Otis Gibbs - AGAIN !!!!
Otis back at the Birchmeadow !!!
His previous shows were VERY warmly and enthusiastically received.Otis has got a delightful, enjoyable, and amusing way of presenting himself. Despite his gentle and un-pushy style, his strong and meaningful songwriting and musicianship leap out, and are worth every penny of the tiny ticket price.
"Otis Gibbs has the kind of voice that suggests that he has been around forever. Deep, wise, cracked and bitter, it is the sound of a man that has seen it all. He has all the conviction of a man who, when a boy, sang to pay for his uncle’s alcohol."

O'Hooley and Tidow
Second visit !
After their last show the reviewer said "I'll be honest. I hadn't listened to any of the links (even though I was the one that put them into our web-page), and when I saw the piano, I felt a bit of an 'oh no' creeping in. But Belinda O'Hooley's use of the beast was nothing short of stupendous. There was power, delicacy, marvelous pacing, and beautiful matching of the sound of a rich keyboard, played across its full range, to their rich singing.So. Wrong on the piano front, then.
But more. The way she and Heidi Tidow melded their voices and achieved such depth and meaning throughout their repertoire for the evening made them, for me, probably the very best yet of all the amazing musicians and singers that have been to the Birchmeadow over the past couple of years or so."
We hope that fellow members of Broseley's Community Choir will there to hear them. Every one of them will be enthralled with the duo's presentation, and with their singing - rich tones, clarity and strength, and skillful harmonising and intermingling of their voices.
As well as their musical ability, they are just downright good fun. And the songs they sing (mostly their own) have clear meaning and qualities that you identify with - a bit like the best of Bill Caddick's. Not grossly 'folky', but undoubtedly related to the folk, and to the life of Britain and the British.
Welcome back.
